So, after a few days rest, I am feeling back to normal. Yea!
I decided to go out today to spend a little time with my new favorite love, stand up paddle boarding (sup). We’ve only been in a relationship for about 2 months, but let me tell you, it is pretty serious.
My husband and I got Boga brand boards from a shop in Beaufort, a South Carolina called Higher Grounds. Yes, my search for a specific board, the Boga Yoga board, took me 10 hours from home to get (I completely realize how ridiculous this sounds). But, we have family in Savannah, so we were able to pick them up on our way to visit them. So, I totally rationalized this crazy decision!
It is amazing what this board has taught me about feeling balanced in my yoga practice. It’s almost like I am learning yoga all over again. The water is still a little chilly here and falling in is not at the top of my priority list. So, just standing can be quite a challenge on a windy day. Keeping myself feeling grounded on my board is such a great teaching tool for me mentally. I have to focus back on the basics of yoga again. Keeping a strong core, keeping great alignment and keeping my mind still.
After practicing yoga for years now, it is sometimes easy to forget just all of little things. We go into our “routine” and forget what it feels like to be a beginner again. It was awesome to feel this way! I plan on taking my this newfound feeling of infancy back into my classes & daily practice.
When is the last time you truly felt like a fish out of water while trying something new? If you can’t remember, then let’s get out and try something soon! Look in your local publications for a class/sport/whatever that peaks your interest. I would love to hear about it!
